Are You Living in The Now?

Too often I hear people complain about what may have happened yesterday or last week, and sometimes complain about what may happen tomorrow or next month!!

Why? That's the question that goes through my head instantly. Not sure why someone would complain about something that has already happened or something that has yet to happen.

We should learn to appreciate the time we have now. Yes, while we may sit complaining or just worried, we can be missing out on the wonders around us.

You may be missing the smile on your child's face, when he has stayed within the lines in his coloring book. Or..how proud your daughter is because she was able to read a book on her own. Or how about the look on your child's face when they are wondering why you are sad or pre-occupied with something you have no control over. While you sit and ponder over your problems, our children are growing up, our loved ones are moving away, our bodies are ever changing and we are missing out on the most valuable moments of our lives. In essence, we are missing out!

My mom always said, you only live once, so let's make every minute count. Too often people take their lives for granted. We never know what will happen tomorrow, so why worry over it. Live each day as if it were your last and if you should awaken the next morning, do it again.

Life is way too short, and it is evident from how quickly our children grow. Enjoy them while you can, every smile, every frown, every giggle and every tear. Focus on today and you will live your life with less stress and sorrow. When we live in the present we push away that fear of the unknown. Fear usually comes when we struggle to determine how we will pay our bills or feed our children, or _______________ (fill in the blank). To fight this fear, focus on the present.

For some it may not be easy, but with practice, you will see your life in a different light and begin enjoying the 'now'.
